The best thing about being a writer is the parts of your story that are discovered instead of created; when the story comes alive outside your imagination. This is when characters are real and events take their own path. Another best thing is when you write, then experience what you wrote in real time, in your own life - a scene that plays out before your eyes or in your heart and you realize you just jumped into the pages of your own book.

I answered a simple "what if" question. "What if" the fine line between heaven and earth was incredibly accessible, but hidden to human eyes. What if I tried to see it, and did, what would I do, what would I find? What are the plausible possibilities that create a fictional story based on Biblical truth. This captured my mind and led to the authoring of Campsite Six.

I let myself consider what I have to say that is meaningful, helpful, inspirational to me first, then others to read. Writing to that topic as a starting point in a blog post, then fictionalizing it into an adventure and see if a path evolves.

I am promoting my recent release, Campsite Six, and have a storyline brewing for a next novel that I note as the pieces come to the surface.

Read blogs and books on writing, watch videos and go to groups, but in the end follow a path that energizes you. The best advice, without your buy-in and energy will fall flat fast. You have to resonate and get excited about your path, find it in the advice you gather and follow it.

I think of my characters, frozen in place at the last portion of content I wrote, waiting for me to release them into the next part of the story. The longer I wait the longer they stay frozen. This motivates me to think of what they want--or need--to do next, and follow the story.
