I almost hate to say this 'cause people start looking at me funny, but the truth is I have been fascinated in serial killers since I was a teenager. They look so normal, at least most of them do and then they do the most horrendous things. I'm really quite interested in how they do what they do, without getting too close. anyway as I said, my last book, freshly finished, is a serial killer book that will hopefully keep you up late at night trying to figure out 'who dunnit'.

I either have a dynamite phrase or situation that just won't leave my head, or a short story that has promise to expand into a book. Then i just ride off with my imagination and see where we go.

I just finished a murder mystery / serial killer thriller. My first two books were romances so I thought I'd branch out. It was just published so I haven't gotten a lot of feedback yet except from my girl who edits it and she said it was on the front of your chair, exciting. If only a few other people have the same feelings, well that would be WOW! I really enjoyed writing it. Definite change of pace. Still included some love scenes between the flight attendant and the former Navy SEAL, now the detective on the case. Have my fingers crossed on this one.

Don't ever quit. Be persistent and have a really thick skin because people are going to say awful things about this wonderful story you just spent months working diligently on and poured your soul into and it will hurt if you don't toughen up. You will never please everyone. Please yourself and there will be others that will follow.

For me, the best thing is I have the power to make the story go as I want it to and to end as I want it to. I've read so many books that I was heartbroken the was the story went off in a different direction than I was hoping or ended horribly in my opinion.

I do something else until I hear the phrases and words coming back into my mind and then I know it's over. I have words and phrases running through my mind almost 24/7, which makes it very hard to sleep. I have a condition known technically as Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. I just always called myself a night owl. I can't sleep when it's dark but sleep fine during the day. I guess when was made, someone just put my clock in backwards. Another way, is to put yourself in that story...what would I do? What I say or react? It uwually works. Thanks for asking
