Quanie Miller I recently stumbled upon Dennis Lehane right here on Goodreads (I know, I'm late!) and now I'm reading Mystic River. Based on what I've read so far, I might finish his whole list this summer!
Quanie Miller Sadly, none! That's the primary reason I write fiction as opposed to nonfiction!
Quanie Miller I think the hardest part is figuring out the best way to tell the story. There's so many different ways to approach any particular story that I want to make sure all the pieces are working well together.
Quanie Miller I loved The Skeleton Key! I get inspiration from so many different places that it's actually hard to answer that question. For my last paranormal novel, I got an image in my head of this mysterious woman standing next to a lake (she was ringing out a towel). But that's it! I thought, "Who are you? What kind of secrets do you have???" And The New Mrs. Collins was born!
Quanie Miller My latest release is available in paperback through Createspace.
Quanie Miller My first book took me 7 months. My last two took me about two years each. Every project is different.
Quanie Miller I get story inspiration from just about anywhere. Once, I was in a salon and a little girl ran past me holding a coloring book. All I saw was a blur of red and blue and before I knew, I got this image in my head of this socialite wearing a red and blue party dress--and running to hide the evidence of the crime she'd just committed! I could probably sneeze and say, "You know what? That gives me an idea..."
Quanie Miller Well, I don't really experience writer's block in the sense that I'm sitting there and can't write. What will happen is that I'll feel like something in the story isn't working, so I'll have to step away from the story a bit and then go back to it with fresh eyes.
Quanie Miller Being able to create whole new worlds! I also love entertaining readers. Sometimes when I'm writing I'll say to myself, "Ha! Bet they won't see that one coming!" It really is a lot of fun.
Quanie Miller Study your craft, learn what you do well (and hone that), believe in yourself, and know that you have a right to let your voice be heard.
Quanie Miller I don't want to say too much for fear of angering my muse, but I will say this: it's a paranormal story set in a small Louisiana town.
Quanie Miller Oh, gosh! All types of ways. I can just be sitting there doing nothing and an image will pop into my head. Or sometimes I'm inspired by something someone says. Or a story I'm told. Inspiration is all around us. We just have to pay attention.
Quanie Miller I got this image in my head of this woman standing next to a lake ringing out a towel. She looked mysterious, so I put her on the page to unravel the mystery!
