Inspiration is a slippery piece of soap that keeps shooting out of my hand. Some days I write until I'm exhausted and other days I have nothing to say. I wish I knew how to get inspired more. Though I've heard it said the best way to find inspiration is to keep showing up at the same place at the same time, ready to write.

I'm going to go with Eve and Roarke right now from the In Death series by JD Robb. They just work so well together.
Honorable mention to Elena and Rafael from Nalini Singh's Guild Hunter series.

I came across a reference to Zhong Kui, the Chinese spirit known as the ghost king and the demon queller and I found the idea fascinating. I spent some time imagining how he would interact here on Earth. Who would be his generals? What happens if that line is interrupted? What if your family is part of that supernatural dynasty and you didn't even know?

I am currently working on a fiction book. It is a paranormal fantasy about a woman who suddenly inherits her family's power--and responsibility--to speak with and help ghosts.

When I am truly stuck, I try two things. One is stream of consciousness. I get a piece of paper and write where I am in a big circle. Then I write whatever comes to mind in little circles around it; connecting those circles that make sense until I have a path to follow.
The second is to walk away. Sometimes I have to let the idea percolate in my brain for awhile. I will go for a walk or go clean something. I give my brain a chance to focus on the mundane instead of the problem. It lets me step back and get another look at it.

I have never had writer's block. I outline my story so I always know what comes next. To learn more about my writing process go to http://pennwallace.

I have two pieces of advice. The first sounds simple but is often the one that gets skipped. Write. Write constantly. Write every day if you can. Do research and outlines but always make time to write as well.
The second is to always have something with you to take notes. It could be a small notebook and pen or a smartphone or tablet with note features. Some of your best ideas will come when you are nowhere near your computer. Jot down a note so you will remember it later.

The best thing about being a writer is having written something. The actual process of writing can be a roller coaster of emotions. When things are flowing smoothly, you want everyone to leave you alone as your fingers fly over the keyboard. When things are going poorly, you suddenly really need to wash those dishes or you force yourself to stay and are gnashing your teeth. The best part is when you are done and you look at what you have written and you are happy with it and with yourself. When it conveys exactly what you meant to say and you put your pen (or keyboard) down and sigh.
