Sally Stap One book was inspired by the economic challenges of Americans today. The other was inspired by impact of pets on my life. As I said, very different.
Sally Stap That's hard to answer. I'll hear or read something that sticks in my mind that I want to explore. I have feelings that need to be sorted out and writing helps to make sense of the world to me. For example, in "The Transformation Project" I explored the bond of motherhood - a changing role that is interesting because success means constant change in our role. "Smiling Again" was inspired by my crazy brain tumor experience and my desire to help others who receive a similar diagnosis - not the medical part but the "Living though it" part.
Sally Stap I'm working on two very different novels. It's my first attempt at fiction and I'm finding it interesting and challenging.

Also attend writer's conferences if possible. And then write. . . .
Sally Stap The best thing for me when writing is the moment that I hear that a reader connected with my words. Finding ways to word what people feel but have trouble articulating is very rewarding.

When I have writer's block I take a walk, or let my mind wander, or write one word. Eventually, words flow. It is a challenge though.
