I've always been interested in the reality that many younger sons in
aristocratic European families did not inherit so were forced to pursue
other avenues to procure wealth. When I read that a great many such
young men of vision had sought wealth in cattle ranching in Wyoming
Territory during the 1880s, I had my story.

I've always been a self-starter so have really never suffered from writer's
block. I was a super responsible child and home-schooled, and never
neglected doing my lessons. In high school, nothing pleased me more than
going home Friday night with a term paper assignment I could work on all
weekend.
