Hi Alyssa, I'm flattered you've asked for my opinion on writing - it makes me feel very privileged. If you're just starting out, I'd suggest finding something that inspires you and then write as much as you can and as often as you can about something you're passionate about. When I first started, I was 13 and I was obsessed with teenage mysteries (Nancy Drew, Veronica Mars, etc) and that's what I wrote about. My inspirations changed to vampire fiction when Twilight came out, and then I became obsessed with superhero pop-culture and wrote Rouge. Don't try to write what you think might be popular or something you know nothing about - write what makes you excited. And if you want a tip for your writing structure, I always try to come up with a new twist at the end of each scene/chapter. Keep your readers on their toes and stay away from cliches. Hope that helps! :D

(view spoiler)[Hi Isabella - I'm a long time (unpublished - as yet!) writer and a new member of the SA Writers Centre. I'd really love to get to your 12320pm session at SAWC this Thursday on Wattpad - but I can't make it as it's my son's birthday and I can't make it! Would there be any other way I could get in touch with you to get your tips and insights?

Hi Catherine, thank you so much for reaching out to me - it is wonderful to hear that people actually want to come to my session! I completely understand, a birthday is super important :) I'd really love to help you gain insight into the wonderful world of Wattpad - what would you say to just emailing at this stage and maybe catching up sometime soon? I'll see how this session goes on Thursday - maybe I'll do another one in the future! I am also going to do a book launch soon for my third novel, so even that could be a way to get in touch.
My email address is isabellafmodra@gmail.com - feel free to shoot me any questions you have!
Best, Isabella

Hey! That's awesome, I'm so glad you love the first so much that you want to read the next ones! Where did I sign it for you? I'd like to do an author signing when I release book 3, so could you wait another month for a signed copy? Otherwise I'll figure out a way :) thanks heaps for your support :D

I bought Rouge from you in the DVD store at the Aberfoyle Park Hub. After patiently waiting for two years I think I can manage a month, but if I could

Okay, I can be really lame. Sometimes I'll be writing a scene and the words just won't quite come to me. So I do one or more of the following:
1) Make a cup of tea
2) Open a book from my bookshelf, read a paragraph and see if something pops into my head.
3) Watch an episode of whatever TV show I'm watching (usually something to do with superheroes so I can get some quality ideas)
4) Watch inspirational videos on Youtube that help me get excited about my book.
5) Stare at my already completed books or read some of them to remind myself of why I'm writing this.
If none of the above works, I just keep writing until something really good comes out.

My inspiration for Rouge originally came from my love for superhero stories. Smallville, Spiderman, X-Men, etc. I just love anything with the message of a hero - someone ordinary who becomes extraordinary.
I originally created Hunter as this badass, independent character with a lonely back-story and a hope that one day life would change for herself. But I love Hunter's transformation throughout the series. I love that she used to be just a normal teenager who thought she knew everything, who thought there was nothing more to life than school, college, careers and families. She had no idea of the rollercoaster life was about to strap her to, and she has grown SO much.
I'm a bit like Hunter. I've obviously never had to deal with anything like her story, but... I've grown through circumstances and it's opened my eyes to the things I need to be grateful for. I often long for freedom, and I like to come to people's rescue. I suppose I am somewhat similar to her, in ways I can't explain. She comes from my mind, after all. There's something there. I also firmly believe in the power of faith, hope and love. Love conquers all :)
