A killer clown, a zombie, and a black hooded burglar crept through the polished Brazilian cherry floors and carefully reached for their sister’s door knob. Before they opened it, they each unsheathed the unused hunting knives and nodded.

Too many to list but for sure... The Night Circus! I would be one of the characters that had magical powers for good.

As a retiree and empty nester, I chose to pursue a forbidden zone. My childhood and adult world was full of responsibility. Formal dance training wasn't a luxury in my journey. I admit that Ameera Unveiled is based on my decision to pursue belly dancing. The lesson I did not realize I would face was the fear of performing and spotlight. In spite of the inner whining, there was glitter and joy to ease the pain! I was surprised there was such a big demon lurking from the unintentional neglected dance training. The beautiful bonds of the women I was privileged to meet had to be put on paper.

I love storytelling and the quirky twists and turns of life. I use my faith and sense of humor to capture triumphs in the midst of ashes. When I am tempted to throw in the towel, little nudges from odd situations encourage me to get back on a keyboard. Or sometimes, Shari Stauch just plain old cracks the whip!

I am currently creating a story honoring the naval careers of my stepfather and father. As a Navy dependent during the Cold War and Vietnam, I was surrounded by amazing men serving our country. I hope to preserve their stories and the influences in their lives and other military dependents.

Aspire for a well edited product by using as many veterans of the trade. Be patient and take your time. I was blessed to find a writing coach, Shari Stauch of Where Writers Win. Not only does she push me harder than I would myself, she has become a dear friend.I believe she minimized being overwhelmed and frustrated during the process.

There are two sides to that sword! I loved journaling and preserving memories. My sisters and I were good at mixing humor with hardship and it carried into my adult life. I hope readers enjoy or relate to various emotional experiences both high and low.
The other side is meeting and talking with other writers. They have unique minds and creative approaches to their own writing styles. To me, it is like holding a jewel into a light and observing all facets. I admire anyone who dares to weave a story with fonts.

My writing coach and I call me "frozen" and it usually redirects me to go back to research. I also love to read-- and take some time to bury myself in another author's book. I was surprised at how long it takes to develop 1,000 words. So, if I find myself stalled, I leave the word processor and look for inspiration from my regular life.
