I am an advocate for women who are survivors of domestic violence. Some of the powerful stories of change and transformation that I heard during my work with these women at various events and shelters inspired Wisdom in Pieces.

For me, writing comes from fulfilling a need I think the community has that I can fill. When I see that people are having a harder time than usual in matters of relationship, then I write about that. If I see a need for inspiration or empowerment, I write about that. I always want my writing to be of service.

Write! I come across a lot of aspiring authors that feel they have to have an entire book worth of writing in their minds before they start. Not true. You can organize, develop, and edit as you go. If you write 2 pages per day for one quarter, that is enough for a 225 page book, depending on formats and edits! Have a writing schedule, find a mentor or a writing class, get support, and get started!

I typically walk away and do something that inspires me. I usually need to take a breath and a moment so I don't feel that I am writing in a contrived space.
