I've had a few of the ideas for my books for quite a while! 4 or 5 years ago in some cases, but I never got round to start writing, firstly because of work, but secondly because I was scared I wouldn't be any good...
It wasn't until I wrote a short story and my friend said how amazing it was, that I actually started writing, So really right now everything i'm writing is just a back catalogue of ideas I had a long time ago. And they all just came randomly to me. Either while I was asleep, or just, sitting on the bus, staring out the window

Don't get caught up on whether people like your book or not. Not everybody is going to, so don't try and change you writing to make everyone happy, just write so that you yourself are happy. If you are confident and happy with how your book turned out. other people will be too!
Write the story YOU want to write, not what you think people will read, anybody can do that, but it won't be your style, who you are as a person, that's who we want to get to know!

Simply being able to write about whatever you want. If you want to write about dragons and knights, or space-ships in the distant future, or a raunchy novel to get peoples blood racing. You can!

Honestly, I don't. It's usually quite hard for me to get over my writers block, and I can go months at a time without writing a single thing!
However, because I have a lot of ideas, and a lot of books in progress at the same time. Where I may be stuck on one book, I am flowing writing another. So I tend to just switch from book to book

I'm working on about 4 different things at the moment, in a range of genres. But mostly i'm working on Ellories Mansion 2!
