Su Boddie I am not sure I have an answer for this one! I'd like to go where there are dragons, I suppose. Like the world of Pern. I'd have to be careful going back in time as I have brown skin - wouldn't be welcomed everywhere. What would I do on Pern? Learn a skill, join a guild, and watch the skies. Maybe I'd even try for a fire lizard; but I'm sure I'd have to know someone.
Su Boddie I don't actually have a reading list. I open whatever volume appeals to me at the moment. And I "bounce around" - right now I am reading the Sword of Shannara; the first three books in Terry Brooks' amazing series. Next could be something by Nora Roberts, Chaucer, Laurell Hamilton or J. Sheridan Le Fanu - all of which are on my bookshelf, NOOK or Kindle.
Su Boddie The setting: home.
The time: middle of the night.
Occurrence: I was awakened by the voice of my sister: screaming and crying. She is 6 years older than I am. And no one ever told me what happened.
Su Boddie LT Eve Dallas and Rourke. She's on the Force in the city which bore me at a time I'll never live to see. She and her husband are the central characters in the In Death Series by J.D. Robb. It is an excellent series and, at 44 books, shows no sign of coming to an end. I'll probably be reading the latest installment on my death bed.
Su Boddie I don't. Which is why Book 2 isn't done, yet. On the other hand, I just go write something else. And hope for the best.
Su Boddie A pencil filled with lead. A pen filled with ink. A head filled with ideas. And L O T S of blank paper!
Su Boddie Stephen King says it best: to be a writer one must write.

In truth: to be a ...-er, one must ... To be SUCCESSFUL, however, takes work and talent. And genetics, of course. No matter how hard one tries a human will never be a fish. A SWIMMER, yes. But not a fish.
Su Boddie "Paris Bleeds", Book 2 in The Cop and The Vampire series.
Su Boddie I can't really answer this in a useful way as I've been writing since I was seven. My teachers kept telling my parents that I should write. So I write. In 2009 a new friend suggested that I publish. Hmmmm. That's an interesting idea.
Su Boddie My only book grew out of a short story I wrote back in 1991. I was sitting in my apartment in Las Vegas, staring out the window when a question popped into my head. "How do you find a creature who only comes out at night when the entire town is out at night?". The short story became "A Vampire in Las Vegas". Ten years later a friend read it and said: "This is really good, but it should be a novel." It was quite an endorsement as my friend did not care for the genre he was advocating. Well, "L. A. Screams" is now Book 1 of The Cop and The Vampire series. Book 2 is still on the drawing board and Book 3, now known as "Sin City Vampire" is on a desk somewhere being considered as a plot for a made-for-tv movie.
