Watching the local news one night. They played a video of a coroner wheeling the body of a murder victim into the lab from a body transport, and I wondered, what if the coroner, or someone important to the coroner, committed the murder? What would he/could he do, to throw the police off his trail? And how could he manipulate the evidence to implicate another?

I don't think I'd call it inspiration. I'd call it fun. I enjoy it, difficult as it may be.

I have a novel in beta read at the moment. While I’m waiting for the impressions on that, I am working on the 2nd novel of that series. It is vigilante in theme, and has a strong female lead. I think readers will like her.

There’s an old saying: What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. That is especially true with writing. New writers take rejection of their work hard. It’s personal for them. That attitude will kill a dream faster than the cyanide I used to kill victims in my first novel. Toughen your skin. LEARN from failure. It is a better teacher than success.
OH! And don't let internet-trolls dissuade you, like the two women from Boca Raton who both joined GR in September just to give my work a 2-star rating. Seems they don't agree with my politics, so they decided to punish me. So much for Freedom of Speech in Boca Raton. Petty, to say the least.

Being a writer presents me with the chance to step outside everything that’s comfortable about my life; about who I am. Writing does not come easy for me, so I work at it more than the things I already know how to do. Hence, the satisfaction is greater. I liken it to anything I learned to do as a child: whistling or hitting a baseball or riding a two-wheeler. Being able to peddle down the sidewalk on my own without the training wheels and without, of course, falling over, was a huge triumph for me. The elation, the feeling of accomplishment … the rush! With writing, all of these things are new again. I never want to get so comfortable writing novels that I lose those feelings upon completing a breathtaking scene, or a creating an especially unusual character. I hope to enjoy those feelings for a very long time to come.
