You get to edit your thoughts before you blurt them out in public and have to live with the inevitable regret from opening your mouth before any wise thought or restraint. There's always Facebook if you are intentional about making a fool of yourself with what you write.

You can practice writing mediocre material until you get good at it and people start to tell you they like what you write and you build up a following.

I find it best to go and do something else altogether, putting the problem out of my conscious mind and letting the blockage sit there. I might work in the garden, have dinner with friends or family, go for a long drive or a walk. At the strangest hour of the day I get a flash solution and then I write for hours.
