Well, this might not be directly in my own life but I am directly related to it . . . according to my mother, her mother (my grandmother) is an only child and always has been. But just before my grandmother passed away my mother inherited a lot of family photos (she has a wall of old b&w family photos on a wall in the house I grew up in) one of which included my grandmother's parents in a picture with a little boy that had the same last name as my grandmother (and her parents) and was dated to be about five years before my grandmother was even born. We've come to believe that my grandmother had a brother, but that he wasn't around once my grandmother came into the picture and we're interested in finding out if he was indeed a relative and what may have happened to him??? Up until her death my grandmother protested she was an only child, and we didn't feel she was covering anything up, so much as far as she was aware and knew she was always an only child. That's one mystery I'd love to investigate and explore. Both personally and as a mystery writer.

Luckily I haven't had to deal with a serious writer's block that often. But of the few times that I have it depended on the book I was writing. One of them I had outlined and so while I was stumped on how to finish, say Chapter 10 I knew what Chapter 12 was about so I skipped ahead and continued writing. Eventually, as I continued writing, I came back around and figured out how to fix my problem. My other solution, that I've used a few times, is to put the writing aside for a few days and just not focus on it, or even write on a new project. Eventually I've found my mind to clear up and the solution to come to me.

Currently, as of December 2014, I am editing my next two books. The first one is the third book in the Detective Parks series (following The Poisonous Ten and Wicked Games). The other book is the first in a new (possibly) ongoing YA series that will also involve a mystery storyline. My hopes is to be completed with the rewrites around the beginning of the new year and to start on my fifth novel (though I haven't decided on which next book in which series to pick up with).
