Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Kate O'Leary From a short story I wrote when I studied Children's Literature at Tafe many years ago! Several years late, the story came up in my thoughts, the character seemed to have a lot to say, think and feel...and then she came to life over three books!

How do you get inspired to write?

Kate O'Leary Moody music and alone time. When I'm rested and my mind can be open to creative thinking. When I'm inspired by something else I have read or watched.

Kate O'Leary Do a writing course, read genres and authors whose writing you admire. Join a writers group for feedback and take on constructive criticism.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Kate O'Leary Escaping into the world you have created. When the characters dialogue wakes you up at night and you have to quickly write it down so you don't forget what they said!
