Ophelia S. Lewis I was visiting with relatives and noticed that no one ever knocked on the door before entering a room. The kids always said, “Thank you”, but always demanded things (as politely as they could) and everybody talked while we ate at the table. And what better way to teach good manners than with the alphabets. Thus “Good Manner Alphabets” was born, a picture book that offers a unique way to teach young children (recommended for children ages 3 and up) good manners using the 26 letters of the alphabet we all know.
Ophelia S. Lewis Most of what I write about is social ills and what affect people personally; I create characters I hope can influence positive change, as in my book, Montserrado Stories.
Ophelia S. Lewis Dead Gods (MH2), the sequel to Heart Men and Good Manner Alphabets (how to be a super polite kid!)
Ophelia S. Lewis Read. Read. Read. Read books by the best writers and learn what makes he/she successful. Rewrite as many times as it would take to make your work decent—before it reaches your editor’s desk. Readers are smart.
Ophelia S. Lewis You get to share your thoughts with the world!
Ophelia S. Lewis Another passion of mine is cross-stitch; so I use my writer’s block as a break to catch up on my cross stitch pieces, which is mostly a painting or picture made up of thousands of stitches. The pieces are auctioned and the proceeds go to funding two organizations I support; MaryMartha Educational Foundation and PJs and Blanket Projects (www.pjsandblanketproject.org)
