No, there is not. My goal for my books is to shoot for PG13.

Mostly it's just habit by now. But I also find that reading inspires me. If the author is really good, I feel inspired to go see what I can do. If the author isn't so good, I feel inspired to see if I can do better.

I just started a serial novel. As I write each chapter it goes up on my blog. It's an action/drama/comedy set in the Old West. My whole idea is to make it fun. Think Indiana Jones crossed with The Mummy. It has train robberies, gun fights, bandits, and, of course, lost Aztec treasure with a curse on it.

Write because you love to write, not for popularity, book sales, reviewers or anything else. Every time I start spending too much time focusing on how others will like my work and how come this isn't selling, etc, it just makes me feel bad. When I started writing, I told myself I would only ever do it as long as I enjoyed it. The minute I didn't enjoy it I would quit. First and foremost, I write to make me happy. If other people like it, if it sells, that's just gravy.

The feeling of being there when a scene comes to life. It's something really magical and nothing else in my life feels like that. When it really works, I don't actually feel like I'm writing the scene. I feel like I'm just an observer, hurrying along to capture it before it's lost.

I actually don't suffer from writer's block all that much. But when I do, I often go and sit somewhere quiet and comfortable, close my eyes, and just try to put myself in the scene. Look around. What are the characters doing? What are they saying? Also, lying in bed at night, right before going to sleep works really well, though sometimes it works too well and I can't get to sleep because the ideas just keep pouring out!
