You need to learn writing style. Furthermore, you need to work with good editors. Start by pitching smaller publications like association magazines and university publications. Often, these pubs have great editors. My book The Complete Guide to Article Writing (Writer's Digest Books) is a a good start--it will teach you a lot about style and article writing.

Writer's block is a myth. Do plumbers get plumber's block? Do physician's get physician's block? A professional writer can write anytime or anywhere. Put me on top of a mountain in a shack and give me access to research, food, water and heat, and I'll write you a book. Furthermore, the book would be just as good as any book that I'd write in the comfort of my home office surrounded by all my creature comforts.
