Tracey Wickham Hi Ed,
Thank you so much for your question.
I like a character who is down to earth no matter what is happening to them. I like to see them with their feet on the ground and not getting ideas above their station.
Anya Harding is the main character in my books and I am making sure her character is down to earth despite everything that is happening to her. There are people around her who don't know what is going on in her life and she doesn't act any different when she is round them then she would have done previously.
Characters who are cocky or arrogant really don't do it for me I'm afraid.
Tracey Wickham Hi Chloe,
Thanks for your question.
I think the hardest part so far has been since A Murder Is Foreseen was published.
I'm loving doing all the promotion work, but I am finding it very difficult to sit down and work on the new novel.
At the moment one thing after another keeps getting in the way and I really need to knuckle and write as the new novel is due for publication either later this year or early next year. Until the book is finished a publication date can't be set.
I think the bottom line is I need to learn how to balance my writing and my private life so that I find the time to sit and write and not let other things interfere with that.
Tracey Wickham Hi Christine,
Thanks for the question.
My summer is going very well thank you.
I am promoting my first book A Murder Is Foreseen and that is taking up a lot of my time.
I am also working on two new books.
The one I am concentrating on at the moment is a collection of short stories which will feature Anya Harding.
Hopefully that will be available in the next two or three months.
When that is finished I will continue work on the next Anya Harding novel which will be published early in the new year.
I hope you have a lovely summer.
Tracey.
Tracey Wickham Thanks for your question Joyce.
I have trained as a Reiki Master Teacher so I have given Anya a profession that I am familiar with.
I have studied clairvoyance so I know what I am writing about there. As for the witch side of things I have read on the subject over the years and I feel confident enough to write about it.
The idea kept going round in my head what would you do if you suddenly became clairvoyant.
Who could you turn to and talk to?
Then I thought what would you do if you saw a murder which hadn't been committed.
Could it be stopped?
And out of all that Anya Harding and A Murder Is Foreseen was born.
Tracey.
Tracey Wickham Thank you for your question.
What is my dream as a writer?
I guess it is to write books that people enjoy reading and that they re-read time and time again.
Tracey.
Tracey Wickham Hi Alexandar, thanks for your question.
With "A Murder Is Foreseen" the ideas behind it came into my head and once I knew what I wanted to write I made a start on it
I am currently writing the second book in the series and I started writing that the day after the idea came into my head.
Once I know the plot I can sit down and start writing it pretty much straight away.
Tracey.
Tracey Wickham I wondered how would someone react if they suddenly started having a dream about a murder that hadn't taken place. Who, if anyone would they turn to?
And then I wondered would it be possible to stop the murder before it happened.
I like to think of A Murder Is Foreseen not as a whodunit, but as a how do you stop it.
Tracey Wickham I have just published my debut novel A Murder Is Foreseen so at the moment that is taking up all my time.
It is the first book in a series featuring the character Anya Harding. She is a Reiki Master Teacher and in this first novel she develops clairvoyant abilities and starts having dreams and visions about a murder that has not yet been committed. On top of that she discovers she is a witch and that all the first born females on her mother's side of the family have been witches too. Her life really does change forever.
I have ideas for other books in the series and I hope that the second book will be available sometime next year.
Tracey Wickham The best thing about being a writer is that I am doing what I love..
There is nothing better in the world then sitting down and putting the idea that you have had going round your head down on paper.
I love every minute of it.
Tracey Wickham It's been said that everyone has a book inside them, and if you feel you have then go for it.
Don't let anyone tell you can't do it, because unless you try you won't know whether you can or not.
If you haven't got a publisher or agent, then do it yourself and self-publish. It means extra work but at the end when you see your book being sold the feeling is fantastic.
Tracey Wickham Usually I just walk away from what I am writing. Once I'm not working on it I find I can think better about where I want the book to go next. I toss the ideas around and see what one feels right, then I follow my instincts and go with that.
