Teresa Robeson Hi, as I mentioned in my reply to you on LinkedIn, I don't personally collaborate with either. I traditionally publish and those decisions are made entirely by the publishing team without input from me. Thank you for your query.
Teresa Robeson It's been sixteen hours since Kait last looked in the mirror. And there is still nothing reflected back.
Teresa Robeson I don't know that there is any fictional world I'd like to go to. Books are there to tell a great story which usually means it's full of strife and conflict. And I don't do well with strife and conflict in my own life. :D As the saying goes, better the devil you know than the devil you don't know. I'll stick with my world, however flawed it may be.
Teresa Robeson Read books on the craft. Take classes on the craft. Join a critique (or 3, like me). Join professional organizations...I've been a part of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators for about 25 years now. I've listed some resources to explore at http://www.teresarobeson.com/resource...
Teresa Robeson Sometimes, a word or phrase or scene, often having an emotional impact on me, will make me excited to write a story around it. Other times, I just follow Jane Yolen's sage advice to stick my butt in chair and write whether I feel like it or not.
Teresa Robeson A YA steampunk set in China and a nonfiction PB about a Chinese-American woman scientist....and several other projects ranging from adult SF short stories to humorous picture books.
Teresa Robeson I can't think of any mysteries in my own life, but if my mother were still alive, I'd love to ask her the specifics that happened to her and her family during WWII when they were fleeing from the Japanese in the countryside of China, and her mother dies. She never told me exactly what happened since, even 60+ years later, she couldn't talk about the experience. I think whatever happened would make for a gripping novel.
