One thing I really liked about this book was the atmosphere and character dynamics. Did you always have this story planned out the way it ended?
Ree Culp No, I didn't. I had planned for the book to end with a happy ever after for Ember and Torren (or at least the beginning of it). But then I met Koldin. He took on a life of his own, and even now he is still challenging me as a writer. He complicated issues. So the ending changed to reflect that complication.
