Mystery has to be my favorite genre! And if I think about it, there are too many mysteries in my life to choose one. But in my first novel, Second Chances, I wrote about a real-life mystery that happened to me and my family way back when I was a Senior in high school. We bought a house whose previous owner had just been released from serving a term in prison for attempted murder. And he wanted his house back! Or at the very least, he wanted to get back inside. Only he knew the answer to why?

My favorite fictional couple has got to be Anne Elliot and Frederick Wentworth from Jane Austen's Persuasion. I absolutely love second chance stories! Giving my own characters a second chance at love is what I love to do best! It keeps me believing that love can never die!

Inspiration for Parlor Favors was born out of my desire to live vicariously in the past. We have a lot to learn from the past if we desire not to repeat it. The characters came from my own life, maybe even previous ones.

I'm inspired by everything around me. But on a daily basis, I write best first thing in the morning. It requires no inspiration other than just waking up.

Take advice from other writers with a grain of salt. Always consider the source, who's giving the advice. That being said, remember that you're an artist and a craftsman. Writing is craft because your work improves over time and art because you create each unique story.

I read a book, take a walk, sometimes even a shower to clear my mind and start fresh.
