Hi Xai Xai, sorry for the delay in the response. I'm just finishing off a book and my next one will have a Sicilian hero :-)

Hi Cintia,
The only way I know to deal with what you've described is to filter out the noise and write. Yes, there's a lot of competition out there but there's also a heck of a lot more readers. You can't control what's going on in the industry, all you can control are the words you write, so stop stalling and get writing!
Best of luck to you :-)

I keep thinking about it! It's something that's played in my mind for quite a while now. I'm halfway through writing my next book and then I have a trilogy to write. Once those books are finished early next year I'm hoping to write Marta's story then

Read as much as you can and then read some more.
When you write your first book, expect it to be rubbish - it's a learning process and one in why you have to find your own rhythm and voice. I would say my first two books were utter dross, the third a marked improvement. Something clicked with me on my fourth; not just my voice but structure and tension too. Some authors are lucky enough to 'get' this from the off, but for the vast majority of us, it's something that assimilates over time.

Sitting on my butt all day living in a world entirely of my own creation :-)

I've been mulling this answer for hours. My initial reaction to it was 'no way' but then the more I thought about it, the more ridiculous I realised my answer was! You see, I met my husband when I was twenty and knew I was in love with him within weeks. He felt the same way. We were engaged two months later and married a year after that. Two kids later, we've just celebrated our eighteenth wedding anniversary. While there are times I could cheerfully throttle him, I could never be without him. If that isn't the definition of a soul mate, I don't know what is!
