Su Williams Without a doubt, I would want to go to the Ink World from Ink Heart. I'd want to go to the festival the Motley Folk perform at. Ms Funke did an amazing job describing and building her world that by the time I finished the series I wished I could visit such a place. Awe-inspiring and thrilling.
Su Williams Devo was inspired by the story of the woman several years ago that was attacked by a pet chimp. I saw the 'primitive' in that primate...the anger, the violence...and wondered what it would be like if man reached his peak in evolution and had nowhere to go but down...devolution.
Su Williams I never know what will inspire me...a movie, a song, a flower, a sunset, love, hate, longing...
Su Williams I've got my hands in a couple of projects right now. I'm working with writers from around the world on a dark sci-fi/fantasy/paranormal anthology. And my personal project is called Devo: A devolution zombie story.
Su Williams *Learn, learn, learn.
*Write, write, write.
*Edit, edit, edit.
*Learn some more...about your subject, grammar, punctuation...
*Write some more...flesh it out with imagery, similes and metaphors... *Remember you're a painter of words not a reporter...
*Edit it again...and get someone elses eyes on it too...and not your friends. You need an unbiased opinion...
*Make some author friends who can support you in promotion and marketing, beta read for you, become rabid fans...be reciprocal!
*Don't be afraid of KDP Free Promo days. They may seem counterproductive but they're great to boost your ranking on Amazon, ranking means people are seeing you....
*Promo the heck out of your free days.
*Collect reviews. Make a list/spreadsheet of reviewers (who review your genre of book) and submit your work to them. Pick a handful each week to keep a steady stream of reviews coming in.
*Never let promo keep you from writing.
Su Williams The ability to take words and paint a picture for readers, maybe showing them the beauty in something they see every day and just don't notice. And the sense of accomplishment is pretty amazing.
Su Williams I like to do what I call Riff Writing...some call it Free Writing. I write out the subject I'm stumped on, set a timer for 10-20 minutes and just write whatever pops into my head. No editing, just write. Even if it sounds crazy, just write it. I've discovered some really interesting things about characters and plots while doing this.
Su Williams Hi Patricia! I have to apologize. I've been meaning to contact the winners and let them I was delayed in ordering paperback copies. My six year old beagle was just diagnosed with stage 3 lymphoma so all extra cash has gone to diagnosis and medication to keep him comfortable. My dad just gave me the money the other day, just so he could get his copy. Dads are great. So I ordered them that day...Monday and got an email they shipped yesterday. They're due by Nov 2 and I'll get them out asap once they arrive. Thank you for your patience and for contacting me. It will spur me on to let the other winners know as well.
I am curious, have you read the other 2 books? If not, they and my fairy tale short story are only 99cents on Amazon Kindle. Here's the links just in case: Dream Weaver http://mybook.to/DWNovels
Rock Star http://getbook.at/Rockin
Thanks again for contacting me. I hope you enjoy Breaking Normal. Have a lovely day!
Dare to Dream!
