I am currently working on my second novel, this one based in central Wisconsin in 1975. It involves monks, Native Americans and the Viet Nam War. Quite the mix, don't you think?

As mentioned at the end of my novel, "Where the Sky Meets the Sand", this book started from a dream I had about a thin African boy who doesn't fit in at home, so leaves home to find a way to make his family proud. Many of the other characters and situations came from my first three trips to Kenya. I also found ideas from situations friends of mine had gotten into and from one incident at a hospital where I used to work. I guess the ideas came from all over!
