Thanks so much for reading The Bone Houses! I have no plans for a sequel at this time! However, if you want more of that world, I highly suggest my upcoming book, The Drowned Woods.

(view spoiler)[I just finished reading The Bone Houses with my co-workers (buddy read) and we keep discussing why the Goat was the only bone animal in the book? We have some ideas but we would like to hear from you :) (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Ellis and his mother were the twin focal points for the bone houses curse. The magic that used to be within the cauldron sort of sunk into them after it broke. His mother used the magic to try and find her son again - thus, all the bone houses seeking a child through the mountains and the forest. As for Ellis, he carried a bit of that magic with him, too. The goat was the first animal he’d ever seen die. Because he touched it soon after the goat’s death and he was thinking of Ryn and her family’s attachment to the animal, he unconsciously used a bit of the magic to bring the goat back. That’s why there wasn’t any other undead animals.

I have a new book coming out in spring of 2017! It’s called THE HEARTS WE SOLD and it’s a standalone about teenage misfits and Lovecraftian horrors.

I’ve been asked this question a lot since DECEPTIVE released, and with good reason since not everything is wrapped up. I promise I’m not trying to be evasive - but I honestly don’t know at this moment. There could be more, but it’s not entirely up to me. :)
Thanks for getting in touch!

This is a really good question! I can’t speak for other writers, but I’ve always been driven by “what-if” scenarios.
In the case of Illusive, I watched a lot of superhero movies. And as much as I loved them, I had this niggling thought at the back of my head: “These are unrealistic.” And then I started wondering what a realistic superhero origin story would look like. What would really happen if people suddenly had superpowers?
I realized that people who possessed powers would be seen as living weapons. These people would be dangerous and valuable, and governments would be desperate to have them. Such circumstances would create an atmosphere of paranoia—you could never know who is dangerous and who isn’t. The world would be forced to operate under the assumption that every person possesses the potential to be a threat.
There would be no superheroes. Just people who possess powers — and want to survive.
And that’s where the first spark of inspiration for Illusive came from. :)
