On Halloween Night, a five-year-old boy was at his Aunt's house. Since he forgot his costume, he had no choice but to give out candy to Trick or Treaters.
First came a girl dressed as an angel, then came one as the devil. Hours passed, when came a knock at the door and long behold, The Grim Reaper appeared. "Death has Come for You." He announced. The little boy runs in terror.
As you can see, No Writer can write a two-sentence Horror Story!

Personally, if I could travel to any fictional book world, I would choose Dinotopia because I loved reading it and the illustrations were so real.
I would love to fly with the Skybaxes or go swimming with a Plesiosaur! If you have a chance to read the book or watch the TV Movie, Dinotopia looks and feels a lot like a prehistoric Garden of Eden.

This summer I'm planning on reading: "Smoke Jumper," "Loch," and "Old Men and Fire."

With me personally, I'm an open book. What you see is what you get. I don't have a lot of secrets in my own life worthy of making into a mystery/thriller right now but I will say from a creative writing perspective, I think that maybe a story about a young boy wanting to learn more about his grandfather's service during World War II would be a nice idea for a family themed novel.
Growing up, I've grown close to aunts and uncles who are scattered across the U.S. and around the world, but I've never got the chance to know my Grandfather on either my Mom's side or my Dad's side because of unfortunate personal circumstances.
In regards to writing about a fictitious family mystery, we'll see what happens in the future.

In regards to anything that I've read recently, I have to Say British Army EOD Major Tom Harrison and his Investigative Reporter flame Casey Mullins from "The Tick Tock Man." They're both drawn to each other by an act of terrorism but work hard to counter the perils of the IRA by staying true to each other.
From a writing perspective, I'm currently working on a married couple in my first novel. Their names are Alex and Karen Brown. Karen is a business woman in Chicago who divides work with raising a son. Alex Brown is a first responder who juggles the pressures of a dangerous profession while staying true to his demands as a faithful husband and devoted father to his wife and son.

It's complicated to describe but the way I deal with it is taking a step back and looking at other tasks that I have right in front of me. For example when I was working on a particular chapter and having trouble, I took a break from the computer and started reading other novels that I was interested in to see how other writers approached their works. You can't force magic to happen but you can review previous chapters and get reacquainted with your characters then the thoughts will certainly flow.

In regards to working on a novel: Going on an amazing journey into a world that you've created in your mind and sharing that experience with the world.
When working on a non-fiction book like "Lackland's Bravest" it's being able to give something back to brave men and women and have something for future generations to be proud of. I got to meet some amazing people who made me feel like I was part of the team and with the success of "Lackland's Bravest" I got to give something back to them that they can cherish.

Have Fun! Enjoy the ride because when you start writing, you're going on a journey and it's like being on a roller coaster for the first time. The beginning of the ride starts slow because you're trying to do research and develop characters and plots, but when the thoughts start flowing, you're in for a wild ride! Finally, don't take yourself too seriously when writing! When it starts to feel like work, then you need to go onto something else. Not only does your mind have to be in the game, your heart does too.

Right now I'm currently working on my first novel. I don't want to give too much away, but I will say that the genre is an Action/Mystery.

My inspiration for writing comes from many diverse subjects. From robotic technologies, to first responders, and elite military personnel. Most recently, I'm focusing on heroic individuals in the realm of First Responder agencies and the Military. Such as Bomb disposal teams, Military Working Dog units and Pararescuemen, the U.S. Air Force's elite Combat Search & Rescue specialists.

In the case of "Lackland's Bravest", the idea for that book came about from a tour that I did at the Lackland Air Force Base Fire Department. I was very impressed with my experience with the firefighters and I wanted to find a way to pay homage to their bravery and steadfast dedication to duty.
