My intention is to allow Sabrina to have more adventures. Unfortunately, I'm deep into a new series. It is difficult having more story ideas than time to write. However, I will take your kind words to heart. Thank you for reaching out to me. I deeply value your suggestion.

Who is my paternal grandfather? I have his name but I know little about him.

Thanks for writing. Motivation is always a challenge. My advice is to join a writers group. It will help hold you accountable. When I joined my first one, all three of us were unpublished. Within two years, we published. Romance Writers of America is a good place to start. Good luck!

Ha! My editor asked me to write a book about a duke. Readers like dukes and she believes it is time I wrote one. I haven't in quite some time. Of course, the trick is to give my duke story an extra twist. My task was to think outside the ducal box, so to speak. The first book of "The Marrying the Duke" series is THE MATCH OF THE CENTURY. You'll have to let me know if I succeeded or not. It will be out this coming autumn.

When I get done with a day's work, I try to leave a scene or something that I understand and am anxious to write for the following morning. This way, I start the next day knowing what I want to write. And then I just keep going forward.
If I find myself in a bind, I push away from the desk and do something else for awhile. Exercise seems to motivate me to write. It frees my brain for possibility thinking.

I'm working on "The Marrying the Duke" trilogy. The books are set in London and deal with--marrying a duke. I'm having such a grand time. I'll be introducing you to the Whitridge brothers who do what all brothers do--they compete against each other. You gotta love men.

Believe in yourself. When you first start writing, you will go through a long period when only you will see the big picture. You can't expect even those who know you best to understand the stories and drive building in you to write. You will spend lonely hours when everyone is off having fun honing your talent. There will be frustrations with your work and also with how you are perceived, but keep the faith and keep working. Eventually, as you begin to experience success both large and small, you will gain recognition. However, in the beginning, you must trust this desire, this gift inside you to write--and do it.

Being in complete control of everyone's lives. My theory is that all writers are frustrated control freaks. The people around me may act on all my sound advice but my characters will, and if they don't, I delete them.

My mortgage helps me deal with writer's block. I don't have the luxury to indulge it. I'm not saying I'm not blocked from time to time. Anytime there is a life changing event in my life, my creativity takes a hike for awhile, but I trust it will return and it has. I go into "block" mode when I'm afraid I lack the talent or ideas or time or spirit . . . the list goes on and on.
Often, when I'm feeling blocked, I'll do something else. Driving seems to get the creativity gears moving. Water does as well. Hiking is another good cure. Travel or trying something new will inspire me. I've taken small art classes to spark my imagination such a mosaics or furniture painting. Anything that breaks the negative pattern.
And then I pay my mortgage. :-)
