DeniseLow Hi, I haven't used Goodreads in a bit and couldn't find this page! anyway, yes, Wing is for sale through me--Red Mt Press has quite distributing their books! they left SPD for good reasons, but they have not found an alternative. So I'm stuck with the SPD stock plus what I bought before all this. In short, I'm happy to send you a copy at discount plus if you buy 5 for Christmas presents, I can give them to you for $5@. My ridiculous publishing life!
thanks for your support!
Denise
DeniseLow I'm so busy that I have no time for writer's block! If I have time to write, then I get into my comfy office chair, turn on ambient music (Moby or Angelo Badalamenti sound tracks), and start revising any of my pending projects. That gets me going. The point here is to have a spot dedicated to channeling the Muse. This works for me. Every person has an individual way of doing this.
DeniseLow JACKALOPE comes from my fascination with postcards of this unusual hybrid animal. They used to be at every gas station along I-70 in western Kansas and eastern Colorado. Also, the character is a chance to re-tell stories I've heard, often in bars. The original title was JACKALOPE WALKS INTO AN INDIAN BAR. I am not a heavy drinker, but I love the stories that get shared in cafes and taverns. Also, I have mixed ancestry, so the Jackalope figure is perfect for explaining who I am. I recently had another mixed-blood person tell me the theme of invisibility was important to him. Issues of gender fluidity are also part of the jackalope character, from both European and Indigenous American traditions.
