Jake Devlin Good question, Ms. Hanson. And the answer is - ready? - 68 years of observing and listening to people, and then pulling from all that the styles and personality quirks that fit my plots.

My novels are more plot-driven than character-driven, and in lieu of character development, it's more character revelation, peeling back layers as the plot unfolds..

I've used the names (first only) of people I know in, on and around Bonita Beach, and a few of their idiosyncracies, again when they fit. I've also pushed additional characteristics onto them when needed.

SPOILERS:
For example, two actual sisters I know, named Carie and Jill, became the Mimosa Twins, surveillance experts and bodyguards with appropriate skills, and a Mrs. Ohio or Indiana or Illinois of 1985, 6 or 7 (I forget exactly) who was on the beach in 2010 became the inspiration for the gorgeous, bright and skilled Pamela93. Pictures of those three are on my Twitter profile page. I won't say anything about the character named Ron, especially since I don't know his last name in real life, other than I think his character accurately reflects his real-life personality.

And as for Gordon Donne, he is NOT based on any real-life person or people, although I could see a Wallace Shawn or Bob Balaban (google them) or a non-neurotic Woody Allen type playing him in the movie. (NOT a LIam Neeson, Charlton Heston or Jeremy Irons type.)

I hope that answers your question. Feel free to ask for more detail or another question. And I hope you enjoy(ed) the first and second books and will enjoy the third one when it comes out.
