My 10th great grand father was a Native American and born in what is now Ontario, Canada in about 1595. He was a scout and interpreter for Samuel Champlain. His daughter was the 1st Native American to marry a Frenchman in Canada. I wanted to know where his ancestors came from and how they ended up in Canada. If you want to know the answer, read Grandfather's Tale.

I was frustrated because I couldn't find a book that told the complete story of our human evolution. When I complained to my wife she said "Write your own book." So I made her a virtual widow for 2 years and wrote my own book -Grandfather's Tale - The Story of Human Evolution and Dispersal.

Two approaches. I'm also a photograper, so I drop the writting an go take photographs -with a notebook in my pocket. Ideas will often come quickly with my change of venue. The second approach is just to write something -ANYTHING! Then put it up for awhile. When you come back to it there may be some gems in there to work around and build a narrative.
