R.M. Wilburn I'm a big fan of the "Ology" books published by Candlewick Press, and I'm also fascinated by mixed media art. I didn't illustrate my first novels (the Buggy Crenshaw books or Magpie & Dilly), but I always saw those characters as I wrote about them, so I decided to learn Photoshop painting to better express myself.
R.M. Wilburn I draw. There's nothing like seeing the expressions or imagining the mannerisms of my characters to motivate me to help them tell their stories.
R.M. Wilburn I'm finishing up a fully-illustrated trilogy called Mary Morgan's Journal, a magical adventure steeped in political satire and set in the year 2047 (roughly twenty years after the Last Great War). Mixed media artwork covers every page and adds to the story which is told by Mary via the scraps of paper she uses for her journal.

The first book, The Cautioner's Tale, will be released November 8, 2017 followed by the other two (The Rescuer's Tale and The Hero's Tale) roughly two months apart.

I'm currently looking for volunteers to be on my Advance Review Team, so if you or someone you know are interested in a FREE pdf download of The Cautioner's Tale, please email me: rm@iamrmwilburn.com.
R.M. Wilburn Write! Write as much as you can whenever you can and don't stop. Make it a habit like brushing your teeth (but hopefully more fun than that).
R.M. Wilburn Just being able to let go in terms of imagination. It's fun to follow an idea wherever it takes me.
R.M. Wilburn Thankfully, I rarely suffer writer's block, but in times when ideas are shy, I draw. I love drawing my characters, seeing their features, and knowing their thoughts based on their expressions. I learn a great deal about them this way and this helps build the story and motivates me to write.
