Christopher Davis For me, the best thing about being a writer is being able to pursue something that matters to me. Once the book is finished, there is a real sense of accomplishment. Even if I never sold a single copy, I at least can say that there is something tangible that I made.
Christopher Davis Honestly, I found that the best thing to do whenever I hit a wall was to just walk away. Even if it was for just a moment, taking time to relax would often calm the mind long enough to get a fresh perspective.
Christopher Davis For me, writing "How the Grail Became Holy" was about trying to answer a question. After studying medieval history in grad school, I became curious about the Holy Grail legend. As it turns out, the more I read on the subject, I only found more questions and conflicting answers. I also noticed how there was an absence of books that explained the history of the legend, and what was available seemed to assume that anyone reading the book must already be deeply familiar with that history. When I could not find any books that matched what I was looking for, it occurred to me that it might be rewarding to write one myself.
Christopher Davis Currently, I am starting on my PhD. I am looking forward to classes this fall, but this sadly will not leave much time for writing anything but a dissertation.
