If you want to write, by all means, do. I've been told to pick a genre. Nonsense. Find out what you like to write, try different things. Read, read and read some more. Write something every day if you can. If you get stuck, write something else. Expect nothing. You can never be disappointed. But you can be surprised when people you don't know say they like what you've written.

My newest book, Storm Portal, Book One, came to me when reading about Robert E. Lee. I thought he would be an interesting person to talk to. The only way obviously to do that was time-travel. So I wrote about book that let me meet Lee.

Keep writing. Even garbage can be edited. I also have more than one project going which usually includes a short story to fall back on.
