It came from a desire to change tack with my writing. I had hit a wall and wanted to go back to basics. I don't remember where Tadhg came from exactly. He was just a character I had from a short story I wrote in 2016. I had always wanted to revisit him because I felt very comfortable in his skin. To put it in acting terms, it just felt like good casting. In hindsight, the diary format probably helped a lot, too. Anyone can write a diary. It doesn't require any writing skill per se, so it meant that I wasn't second guessing myself as much as I normally would.
