How my sister and brother-in-law's plane crashed in 2016? The FAA still hasn't finished it's investigation and we know it wasn't pilot error, so what happened? There could be a lot of things that could be put with this information and made into a fictional story.

Sometimes I just have to walk away from a story. I might not write for a day or two, or I might even start a new story and come back to the one I'm having trouble with later.

I love creating new stories. I love getting know my characters and watching where they lead me. I also love hearing from my readers. It's wonderful to hear how a story touched someone or helped someone through a tough time. I just love everything about being a writer.

Stay true to yourself and don't let naysayers discourage you. Today is one of the best times for new authors to get their work read. If you are having trouble finding a publisher, try self-publishing. If you don't want to do that, but want to get your stories read, start a blog or post to places like FanStory were you can get feedback.

Different things inspire me to write. Sometimes it song lyrics, sometimes a news story, and sometimes things just pop into my head.

When I originally started writing Standing Her Ground it was a very different story. I had wanted to write a story that touched on the corrective rapes going on in South Africa and other African nations. Originally, I started a story about Kaitlyn's ( a supporting character) mother, Catherine, but I could get that story to take off, and then the story about a young lesbian who had been raped and got pregnant came into my head. The stories in African made me wonder if that could actually happen here, and yes, I believe it could and probably has. I also know that there are a lot of young women who've gotten pregnant after being raped who have chosen to keep their child, so I covered a lot of territory that I wanted to write about with the one book.
