Who were my grandparents. Inquiries brought closed door responses like leave the past in the past and change the subject or leave my home. That made me even more curious. What are they hiding?

I met Bruce Wilkinson (Prayer of Jabez author) at a writer's conference. We compared notes of how God had worked with us similarly. Dr. Wilkinson encouraged me to select 31 of my miracle stories and create a devotional.

I guess it's wanting to leave a legacy. I imagine the grandkids someday reading some of my stories and hope they think that Grandma was a hoot.

Several things - top two - A memoir about seeing God and my Native American heritage while working in the "woods" with my dad, and a month of devotional thoughts for grieving parents who lost a child.

Write! Really - write out stories, complete your what-if curiosities, write letters to the editor, stories for the kids or grandkids, create poetry, journal your thoughts and dreams. Next I would recommend a writer's conference. The personal experience of other authors and learning from successful writers is a great help.

Eric Liddell (Chairots of Fire runner) said that God made him to run and he feels God's pleasure when he runs. I feel the same - God made me to write, and when I am able to encourage, help or bless someone with words, I feel God's pleasure in completing my calling.

I really seldom experience writer's block. I carry notebooks or cards with me and jot down things I see, then file them alphabetically. I've always got 50 more topics than I have time to write.
