Bruce Edwards Writing is a solitary endeavor. There is no collaboration. I come from a background in music and film where the "team" is everything. But the satisfaction you get when your book is finished makes enduring all that isolation worth it. Then you can crawl out of your cave and rejoin the human race.
Bruce Edwards It’s no secret that many of the rich and powerful got where they are through sinister means. I wondered how those who profit by deceiving others sleep at night. How do they live with their guilt? “Mad Dogs and Makeovers” uses fantasy to examine this culture of deviousness.
Bruce Edwards It sounds simplistic, but I just look around! Conflict is everywhere. Global issues and personal challenges all contain the seeds of a good story. I tend to focus less on issues and more on human behavior. For me, that’s where the real story lives. What’s really in people’s hearts?
Bruce Edwards With the looming U.S. presidential election, I am promoting book #2 in the series: The Thumper Amendment, where Amy explores the absurdities in campaign politics. (It’s more thrilling than it sounds.) I am also actively developing book #6, slated for release in 2017.
Bruce Edwards Don’t scrutinize the book publishing industry too closely. The number of books published each week is staggering. Brooding over this fact will surely put you off writing, so don’t go there! Stay true to your vision and persevere. Writing a book is a hard road to go down, but it’s the most gratifying journey you’ll ever take.
Bruce Edwards Take a shower! The best ideas come to me when I’m doing some mundane, everyday task. Some writers get their ideas while shaving. For me, it’s while standing under a shower head.
