Because they are two people who needed to find each other and once they did, they became more than the sum of their two parts.

Bev Allen An eco-warrior adventure story set on a forest world. I've peopled it with tattooed tribesmen and guys I call Tribal Liaison Officers. A maiden has been kidnapped on her betrothal day and if there isn't going to be war between the tribes and the new colonists, the TLO is going to have to find her and soon.
Bev Allen The people in my head demand to be let out. I find its best to let them have their own way or I end up so distracted I come home from the supermarket with smoked oysters when I went for bread and milk.
Bev Allen I wanted to write about the problems so many kids face today with the break down of families, drugs and the potential for sexual exploitation.
I also wanted to write the sort of "ripping yarn" space opera I love/loved as a teenager. mix the two and you have "Jabin".
