Life inspires me. My surroundings on any given day hold a wealth of things to write about. And humankind in all its variations is just a wellspring of inspiration.

I've published two mysteries centering on private detective Charlie Komensky, and I'm in the editing stage on a third that will complete a story arc that will also ultimately include two short stories. I have a working title, but the final title isn't settled yet. In the mean time, I'd like readers to start with
The Flat Tire Murders
, read the short story
Wheel Deadly
and then read
The Steam Locomotive Murders
, before moving on to my new upcoming novel.

Just do it. You won't know if you are good at it, and won't get good at it, if you don't practice your craft. At best, you will be a hit, and at worst, you will have to deal with some criticism that will either make you a better writer or give you the ammunition for some pretty astounding fiction.

Fiction is the alternate reality the writer has in his/her head. I love creating that reality and living in it as I write about it.

Fortunately, I've never had to deal with it. I almost never get tired of writing fiction. Insofar as humor and non-fiction are concerned, you don't get writer's block if you have thoroughly researched your subject.

The most recent is my rare non-fiction book,
Sex Lies and Insurance Claims
, available only as a digital edition. It's just something I wanted to do after 40-plus years as an insurance professional. I tried to apply my dark sense of humor to it.
