Darryl Bollinger Harry "Rabbit" Angstrom and his wife, Janice, in John Updike's "Rabbit" series. Their relationship is so genuine, with the ups and downs that are a part of life together. Updike brings the characters to life as the reader alternates between feeling sympathetic and frustrated with each of them, caring for them both.
Darryl Bollinger I probably shouldn't say this, but I haven't experienced it. Certainly, some days are easier than others, and I do struggle at times with scenes or issues, but the best solution is to write! If one scene isn't working, then I move to another scene or sometimes, even another book idea. The key is to write.
Darryl Bollinger Having a complete stranger spend their hard-earned money on your book, and telling you how much they enjoyed it and can't wait for the next one. Praise from readers is the ultimate reward.
Darryl Bollinger Read, read, read. I don't think you can be a good writer if you don't read. The other thing I would suggest is join writer communities. Being able to talk with and learn from other writers is priceless.
Darryl Bollinger I'm doing the final edits and revisions on The Care Card, which will be released in November, 2014. I've already started on the next book, which will be another in the Jack and Molly series.
Darryl Bollinger I've always loved to read and wanted to write. To take a blank sheet of paper and create characters, a story and a setting is magic to me, and I've always wanted to do it. A good writer transports the reader to another world, and that's what I strive to do.
Darryl Bollinger Talking to people outside the health care field made me realize how little people understand about how our health care system works. Insurance companies exercise far more control over health care than many people realize. I just took that and extrapolated it to another level with The Care Card.
