Hi! That's a great question. Thanks for asking! I love to write fiction books in the children and young adult genres. I prefer both because I may have a novel in the works, but while working on the novel a character with a shorter story to tell might inspire me to create a picture book.

I don't get writer's block. I never have a "blank page" before me. An idea quickly fills it. My advice for writer's block is to take some time away from the project, take some deep breaths, go for a walk, get your mind off of it, come back and just write. You can change any writing you did after it's finished. Writer's block is a form of anxiety, so that's how I would handle it, if I encountered it.

I'm actually working on several projects. I'm trying to finish up The Gifted Ones trilogy. It's very difficult to complete. I'm also working on a revised version of The Lonely Chair (written under my other pen name), and I'm working on illustrations for a book called The Werewolf Who Ate the Moon. Plus, the next Texas Festivals book featuring WestFest.

I'm inspired by many worldly aspects: nature, people, decor. Sally the Travelin' Saddle's inspiration was based on decor. Most recently, I attended a writing event at the zoo. While watching bald eagles a woman next to me commented about them and it inspired me to write a story from the eagle's perspective.

My most recent series is the Texas Festivals Series, and all the ideas come from festivals I attend. The idea for Sally Travels Parade Style came from the George West Storyfest Little Red Wagon Parade. The idea for my newest book in that series--which will be released in March--came from the Take 190 West festival.
