Whenever I'm stuck on a project, I go to a coffee shop and buy two coffees. I drink one, and put the other on the table across from me. I verbally explain whatever it is I'm stuck on to the person sitting there - sometimes there's an actual human, sometimes it's an imaginary friend. I'm reallllllll popular at my local Starbucks. But it works - talking about something uses a different set of mental muscles than writing about it, and that can lead to a breakthrough.

Work hard and be nice to people. This is the best job in the world, without a doubt - don't mess it up. Missing deadlines, getting defensive about criticism, or otherwise thinking your shit don't stink? That's a surefire way to lose work and alienate your readers.
