Patrick C. Greene Setting your own hours, I guess? A smidgen of prestige? I can't really pinpoint any, but it beats doing something mindless.
Patrick C. Greene For the NOES book, it was about needing to do something different for a while. Much as I love to write fiction, I also love horror movies and talking about them. I was mulling over which film series I wanted to cover, and I choose Nightmare, simply because I have all the films.
Patrick C. Greene I have no answer for that. Inspiration comes and goes as it wishes. No ritual or preparation can force it.
Patrick C. Greene I'm dividing time between two separate projects, an "en-psycho-pedia" of the A NIghtmare Street phenomenon, including comics and other appearances. The other, tentatively-titled Oddities, Entities and Absurdities: Tales That Cannot Be True. I have taken some lesser known accounts of paranormal or high strangeness experiences and fleshed them out as fiction narratives.
Patrick C. Greene Be resilient. Criticism, rejection and disappointment are ahead. Remember these and let them inform your work. Be picky about who is allowed to beta read or sample read your books. And never, ever base your self-perception on your success, critically or financially. No author escapes bad reviews.
Patrick C. Greene I try to switch to another project, as different as possible as my WIP. In some cases, I just try to blast through it, and write whatever crap falls out for five or ten minutes at a time. A longish walk also jars stuff loose.
