I... honestly wish I could remember. I'm not sure it came from anything in particular, but I do remember how it came up. I was spitballing plot ideas with a critique partner, early in the drafting process, and one of us said "there's a magical cliff that'll fall and kill everyone!" and the other one of us did a "yes, and?" instead of saying "that's stupid!" I sort of expected it to be one of those plot points that only stuck around long enough to get me to the end of the draft, whereupon I would cut it. But nope. It survived.
Let that be a lesson, I guess: The Cliff always survives.

I did, actually! It was originally supposed to be a jokey placeholder title until I thought of something Far More Solemn, but I grew attached to it, and my publisher let me keep it. So here we are. Glad you like it!

1. Because the story was over.
2. Plenty of ideas, none suitable for a series rated 12 and up.
3. Because if you want a book about marriage and babies, I am definitely not the person you can count on to make those ideas interesting enough to publish. :)
