Jennifer Hudson Taylor The publishing industry is changing and the advice I give aspiring authors now is a little different than what I would have given 10 years ago. Do your research into the pros and cons of traditional publishing and self-publishing. Figure out which one is best for you depending on what you write, who your target market is and what your goals are. Either way, you will need to join some writing groups, connect with other writers (both aspiring & accomplished) and be open minded to critiques, feedback from others and never stop learning, growing and aspiring. Realize that writing will be 50% of your job and marketing will be the other 50% of your job.
Jennifer Hudson Taylor The ability to let my imagination carry my readers and I to a different world, place and time to faraway adventures and to meet delightful characters and imaginary friends.
Jennifer Hudson Taylor Writer's block isn't always a problem. It can be a process of writing that helps us write better. The way I deal with it is to take a break and do something else. While I'm doing other things my mind will continue to work through the plot and characters until a solution comes to me. I'll go for walks, take a bike ride, go shopping, watch a movie, and sometimes my break is more than a few hours, it can be for days or weeks. Regardless of how much time I take or what I do during that time, a solution always comes to me.
