What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Larry Benjamin The freedom that comes with it. Writing, at least for me, is free of constraint, of expectations, of the need to please. I can create: characters, lives, outcomes.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Larry Benjamin That would be Unbroken. The inspiration for it was quite simply, the question, when did you first know you were gay? From there the idea developed to take the reader on my journey, to grab him or her by the hand and make them walk in my footsteps.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
Larry Benjamin I wait for it to pass. I find "forcing" writing results in rather pedestrian writing. My writing is far better if I take a break or "sleep on it." Once the words start flowing I write again.
