Ruth Fitzgerald Hi Rosie,
Hope you're having an excellent half term!
When I was young I read a lot of Enid Blyton and always wanted to write adventure and mystery books like her. Then when I had children I started reading books by Lauren Child, Jacqueline Wilson and Cathy Cassidy, as well as lots of Harry Potter so I think I was influenced and inspired by all these writers. Which authors are your favourites?
Thanks for the question!

Ruth Fitzgerald That's an interesting question! If you man couple as in any pairing, I think it almost has to be Holmes and Watson, then of course there's my lovely friend Robin Steven's thoroughly excellent detectives, Daisy and Hazel. If we're talking romantically involved couples, then Romeo and Juliet have to be number one but how about the self-destructive relationships of Cathy and Heathcliff or even Mrs and Mrs Twit! Or maybe Gatsby and Daisy, because F Scott Fitzgerald is my great-grandad (OK. I just made that up - let's call it an 'alternative fact'). If we include animals then there's George and Timmy the dog and Scooby and Shaggy. too many to choose from. What's yours?
Ruth Fitzgerald Hello Emily, (Great name by the way!)
Thank you so much for getting in touch and saying nice things about the books. I love hearing from readers. It's great that your mum is reading the book with you - she sounds like a superstar mum! I'm not writing any more Emily Sparkes books at he moment, but I am writing an Emily short story which will go on the website to read for free (this is a secret... oops!). I'm also writing something else which has girls and fun things in but I can't say anything about it yet :)
Have fun reading!
