Piper Stewart As an assignment in the sixth grade, and I have written ever since. Always in journals, or just for fun. For many years I wrote poems rather than long stories, but as an adult I prefer writing stories. I love where they take me.
Piper Stewart Well, according the the Goodreads library, there are many different genres which are quite popular. You could scroll through and see what is out there.
Good luck.
Piper Stewart My suggestion would be to write something you might like to read. Write what you know.
Good Luck!
Piper Stewart Well, that's the mystery. Could be five minutes, could be 5 months. Could even be five years. It seems that the more I write, the more easily I come with ideas. I currently have five different projects going! It helps to keep a journal, and pay attention to the little things. That always helps me a lot.
Good Luck!
Piper Stewart It all depends on how much time you devote to your writing. Bloody Mary took me a while, because I completely changed the storyline, but my most recent took me a year. If you write a bit each day and in your free time, you should see results pretty quick! Best of luck! :)
Piper Stewart Some days are harder than others, editing is my least favorite part. I also have a hard time with completely trashing a whole scene, but if it doesn't work it has to go. That being said, it is one of the most rewarding things I've ever done. I've always wanted to be a writer, but lacked the confidence. Now that I have jumped in with both feet, It's hard to get me away from the computer. I wish my fingers could keep up with my brain!

I absolutely love bringing a character to life and following them on their journey. A strange thing happens. You as the author have things you intend for them to say, and it turns out they have things of their own to share instead and sometimes the story goes in a different direction than you planned. Every day is new and I am so grateful to be doing it.

Thank you for writing.
Piper Stewart From the idea of being consumed. Taken advantage of, yet being too polite or too afraid to stand up for yourself. In this instance it becomes far too late, to simply say stop. I wanted to delve into crossing that line until there was a snap...
Piper Stewart I always have. I used to keep journals, but people would read them, so sometimes I would make stuff up, just to shock whoever might pick it up. Ha ha, sent someone into a panic attack once. No lie!
I always carry a notebook, and I'm always writing stuff down. And I have dreamed for as long as I can remember of holding an actual ink & paper version of my thoughts. The weight of the book in my grip. The way the angles feel in my hands, clutching it tight to my chest... the smooth cover under my fingertips. The smell of the book... the sound the pages make as each is turned... it's seductive to me...
Piper Stewart Wow! THREE stories, and they are conflicting in my head like a thunderstorm! At this moment I am trying to sort through the bare bones of each story to see which comes through first.
That's when I knew I had to wrap up Bloody Mary, because I could have worked on it forever. And I have. In fact, I already have ideas for a book two... because Katrina seems to have more to say...!
Piper Stewart Best piece of advice given to me, was "write what you know." Many of my stories are somewhat auto-biographical. Fiction of course, but if those messed up, uber personal, omg-how-embarrassing moments can lend life to your story, USE IT!
I realized a long time ago that a screwed up childhood has left me with loads of great material. Who knew it might actually pay off one day?
Piper Stewart I love creating characters. I love listening to them come to life and begin speaking to each other. Once that happens, I get to step back and watch them take on a life of their own. It always amazes me how I can get lost in their world. Literally. To the point that I will find myself shaking my head sometimes trying to get back to my reality. Reminding myself that it's time to make dinner...

Piper Stewart I always have notebooks full of ideas. I'm constantly writing everything down. Even in the middle of the night. My brain seems to never take a holiday, and if I'm diligent, I get some pretty good ideas, I just have to sort through the material and connect the dots sometimes.

I take a lot away from life experiences, whether it's from the longest running relationships, or ten second exchanges from strangers, there's an unforgettable moment that will hit me. I try to pull from that a lot.
