Simon Petherick
I interviewed a very distinguished but these days little known left wing politician thirty years ago. Sir Richard Acland founded the Common Wealth party which won a succession of byelections in the UK in the 1940s before losing out to the Labour landslide of 1945. He was a remarkable and wonderful man and my memory of him inspired the fictional characters in English Arcadia.

Am currently working on a book about contemporary London with flashbacks to the 17th century city.
